Navigating the Edmunds.com iPad app

The Edmunds.com app for the iPad provides both new and used vehicle research and True Market Value® (TMV®) pricing information found on Edmunds.com. Whether you're researching a new car, reading editorial or consumer reviews, looking for the latest incentives or rebates or trying to find out how much your current vehicle is worth, all the information you need is at your fingertips. You can locate a car at a dealer, get a price quote, and have the research on your mobile device to help you get the best deal on a new car.

Getting Started

When you open the app, you can start researching cars by selecting the magnifying glass in the upper left corner. This will allow you to filter your search by Brand, Type, Price, Year, and Feature. Feel free to use anywhere from one to all of the filters.

Please note that if you select a range of years, the app will automatically display the most recent year each car was/is produced in. For example, if you select 2014-2015, the app will display cars for the 2015 Model Year (assuming the car wasn’t discontinued after 2014).

Once you have selected a car, you can then swipe left/right to access various screens of information (Inventory, Incentives, Build & Price, Edmunds Review, Consumer Ratings, Safety Ratings, Technology, Features & Specs, Photos, and Color Options). You can also use the dotted slider on the bottom of the screen to toggle between screens.

How do I find the value and pricing information for a car?

Pricing information for new AND used cars can be found on the Build & Price screen. For new cars, you can select the trim level, packages, and options you want the car to have and you will be shown the Invoice, True Market Value, and MSRP for that specific configuration. For used cars, you can enter the mileage, condition, trim level, and options the car has and you’ll be shown the estimated Trade-In, Private Party Sale, and Dealer Retail values.

If you want to change the trim level or Model Year of the car, you can do so by selecting the “Change Trim” button in the upper right area, next to the car model.

Where can I find my Recently Viewed cars and how can I delete them?

Recently Viewed cars can be found by tapping the clock icon in the upper left area of the app. At this time, the app does not allow you to delete cars from the Recently Viewed screen; however, as you view more cars, the cars viewed a while ago will automatically be removed from the list, making room for the most recent cars you have viewed.

How do I save cars in local inventory so that I can reference them again?

Once you have selected a car, swipe to the far left screen (or use the dotted slider on the bottom of the screen). You will then be on the Inventory screen. Based on your ZIP code, we will show you matching inventory closest to your location. To the right of each car listed, tap the heart icon until it is red. This means you have saved the car in inventory.

Tap the car icon in the upper left area of the app. This will bring you to the Saved Inventory screen. To remove a car from this list, simply tap the red heart and the car will disappear.
