2014 Vehicles Moved from New to Used

Once each year, Edmunds moves most new vehicles from the prior model year from New Cars to Used Cars. We have now done that for the majority of 2014 model year vehicles because dealers have begun to receive 2015 and 2016 model year vehicles and thus generally have very few 2014 model year vehicles left on their lots.

Although we’re no longer calculating True Market Value new vehicle prices for these leftover 2013 vehicles, you can use our Used Car Appraiser to approximate values for them. Complete the steps in the appraiser as you normally would for a used vehicle, but enter “1” for the number of miles and choose “outstanding” for the vehicle condition.

At the end of the appraisal, use the “Dealer Retail” price shown as an approximate value when negotiating with the dealer. Keep in mind 1) that the dealer may be motivated to get the vehicle off the lot, making it possible to obtain an even lower sales price, and also 2) that there may still be new car incentives available for the vehicle.
